Updated 2 November 2026, before the US open. Intel (INTC) traded at $65.09 in Monday’s pre-market at 8:09 am ET, down 1.02 percent from Friday’s $65.76 close, on 5.37 million shares already (Nasdaq). Public.com showed the same level, $65.12. Friday’s 28.58 percent fall was the worst day since 1974 (Yahoo Finance), and the first full session after it opens with no bounce priced in. Verdict: the pre-market says the selling is not finished, but the stock is still above Friday’s $63.20 low; that line, and AMD’s client guide on Tuesday, decide the week. Reference levels: $58 below, $72 above.
Key facts
- Pre-market: $65.09 at 8:09 am ET on 2 November, down $0.67 (1.02 percent), bid $65.07 / ask $65.10, about 5.37 million shares traded (Nasdaq real-time quote). Public.com showed $65.12, down 0.97 percent.
- Friday: closed at $65.76 on 30 October, down 28.58 percent from $92.07, after a $63.20-$68.77 range; after hours it traded at $64.88 (StockAnalysis, Nasdaq).
- The guide that did it: fourth-quarter revenue of $15-$16 billion against roughly $17.1 billion expected, a non-GAAP gross margin of 38.0 percent, down from 44.1 percent in the third quarter, and adjusted EPS of 25 cents (Benzinga, GoTrade).
- Distance from the top: the stock sits about 54 percent below its 52-week high of $142.35 (GoTrade).
- Ratings: Bank of America’s Vivek Arya cut Intel to Neutral from Buy with a $100 objective, down from $145; Seaport and Roth also moved to Neutral, while KGI Securities upgraded to Outperform with a $95 target (Benzinga).
- Consensus: Hold, with an average target of $102.03 (MarketBeat). The lowest new target is Roth’s $70.
- Next test: AMD reports on Tuesday 3 November after the close; Apple and Palantir report tonight.
What the pre-market already answered
Our Sunday page asked whether buyers would step in at the open. Before 8:10 am ET the answer was no: the stock traded about a dollar under Friday’s close, while AMD was up 1.3 percent in the same session (Nasdaq). AMD, which fell 11 percent on Intel’s warning, was being bought; Intel itself was not.
The volume matters as much as the price. More than 5 million shares changed hands before the cash session, a heavy pre-market for any stock. That is consistent with funds still reducing positions after a 45 percent October, rather than a quiet weekend reset.
What has not happened yet is a break of Friday’s $63.20 low. At $65.09 the stock is about 3 percent above it. Holding there through the first hour would be the first sign that Friday’s 455.5 million-share session cleared most of the forced sellers (StockAnalysis volume).
The analyst floor is still above the price
After the cuts, the range of new targets runs from Roth’s $70 to StoneX’s $100, with Bank of America at $100 and KGI at $95. Every one of them is above the pre-market price; the lowest is about 7.5 percent higher. That gap is why a few houses are now arguing the other way. KGI’s upgrade to Outperform is the clearest example (Benzinga).
Targets set the day after a 29 percent drop are not a floor. They tell you where analysts think fair value sits on a 12-month view, not where sellers stop on Monday. The editorial team’s report on Friday’s session covers how unusual the move was.
Why AMD’s report is Intel’s real Monday question
Intel said the PC slowdown will last at least through the first half of 2027 and blamed high memory prices. AMD sells the competing PC processors, so its fourth-quarter client guide on Tuesday is the first independent check on that warning. If AMD’s client business holds up, Intel’s problem looks like lost share as well as a weak market. If AMD guides just as weakly, the slowdown is industry-wide and Intel’s server and foundry story matters more again. Our AMD Monday preview sets out what the report has to show.
Intel from Monday’s open: bull, base and bear
| Scenario | INTC | What has to happen | Anchor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bear | $58 | The open breaks Friday’s $63.20 low, heavy volume continues and AMD’s client guide confirms a market-wide PC decline. | About 11 percent below the $65.09 pre-market price. |
| Base | $62-$69 | Selling slows during the week while the last rating changes come through; the stock trades around Friday’s range. | Friday’s $63.20-$68.77 range, just under Roth’s $70. |
| Bull | $72 | $63.20 holds, buyers follow the KGI upgrade and AMD’s report points to Intel losing PC share rather than the market collapsing. | Truist’s $72 target, about 10.6 percent above the pre-market price. |
The bear case sits below the current price. Analyst targets, all above it, are listed separately above. These are reference levels measured from the verified pre-market quote, not forecasts.
What to watch today
- $63.20: Friday’s low. A close below it would show no buyers stepped in after the first shock.
- Volume against Friday’s 455.5 million shares: a much lighter session would suggest the forced selling is done.
- Further rating changes: upgrades such as KGI’s against further Buy-to-Neutral moves.
- Form 4 filings: chief executive Lip-Bu Tan bought about $10 million of stock at an average of $95 in August (MarketBeat); a new insider purchase would be read as a signal.
- AMD’s client guide on Tuesday 3 November after the close.
Tuesday update: Intel closed Monday at $59.97, below Friday’s $63.20 low; our Tuesday Intel page has the new levels.
Quick take: Intel traded at $65.09 before Monday’s open, down about 1 percent on heavy pre-market volume, while AMD was up. The market is not yet buying the crash. Friday’s $63.20 low is the line for today; AMD’s client guide on Tuesday decides whether Intel’s warning is about Intel or about PCs. Expect $62-$69; $58 needs a break of the low, $72 needs the low to hold and a softer read from AMD.
