Decentralized finance protocol Kintsu has opened a private beta on Canton Network, introducing early access to lending, collateralized borrowing and staking functionality as it expands into blockchain-based capital markets. The beta opened around October 8–9, 2026, inviting selected borrowers, lenders and vault managers to evaluate the platform before a broader release.
The initial testing experience focuses on supplying USDC, borrowing against Canton Coin (CC) collateral and submitting CC staking requests. However, the platform remains in a testnet environment, with several planned features, including managed vaults and broader lending markets, not yet fully available. The development marks an expansion of Kintsu’s original liquid staking business into credit infrastructure designed for tokenized assets. Canton Network, developed by Digital Asset, provides blockchain infrastructure focused on institutional financial transactions, combining interoperability with configurable transaction privacy.
USDC Lending and Canton Coin Staking Enter Testing
Kintsu’s lending model allows users to deposit cryptocurrency into lending markets, providing liquidity to borrowers who pledge supported assets as collateral. The initial beta experience focuses on USDC lending against Canton Coin, enabling participants to access dollar-denominated liquidity without immediately selling their CC holdings. Borrowers can review their collateral positions, select borrowing amounts and assess how additional debt affects their position’s financial health. Lenders can examine displayed supply rates before depositing funds.
The protocol uses variable interest rates, meaning borrowing costs and lender returns can change according to market conditions. Kintsu is also testing a staking request process through which participants select an amount of Canton Coin and submit it for staking. The project has not disclosed finalized staking yields, collateral requirements or lending rates for a future public launch. Alongside individual lending markets, Kintsu plans to introduce curated vaults managed by professional allocators. These vaults would distribute deposited assets across selected lending markets according to strategies reflecting different risk profiles and return objectives. However, the public beta interface currently identifies Markets and Vaults as forthcoming features rather than fully operational products.
Canton Expansion Builds on Earlier Credit Infrastructure
Kintsu’s latest rollout follows several months of development within the Canton ecosystem. In July 2026, the protocol introduced an initial testnet implementation featuring isolated lending markets and interest accrual mechanisms. The following month, Kintsu integrated Cenote’s Canton-focused credit platform into its broader Kintsu Capital Markets infrastructure. The integration expanded the project’s focus beyond liquid staking toward lending and collateral management. Unlike conventional public blockchains, where transaction information is broadly visible, Canton allows financial applications to restrict access to sensitive transaction details.
That architecture could be particularly relevant for institutional borrowers managing confidential positions, collateral arrangements and financing transactions. Canton’s broader ecosystem is also developing infrastructure for tokenized securities, Treasury assets and institutional settlement. Kintsu’s planned lending markets could eventually allow holders of supported tokenized assets to obtain liquidity without selling their underlying positions. Nevertheless, the private beta does not establish that institutional lending is operating at commercial scale.
Kintsu has not published verified lending volumes, total value locked or adoption figures for its Canton deployment. The next milestones will involve activating additional lending markets, introducing curated vaults and progressing toward private mainnet access. For Canton, the rollout adds another potential financial application to its expanding ecosystem. For Kintsu, it represents an early test of whether privacy-preserving infrastructure can support practical lending and staking services beyond traditional DeFi networks.
